In this project, I turned my raspberry pi into a fully featured FM transmitter that allows you to broadcast on any frequency.
What you need:
Ethernet cord to connect to your internet connection
A relatively long length of wire
That’s it! Now lets get started!
Connect the wire that you have to GPIO pin 4 of your raspberry pi. Here is the pinout of the Pi GPIO:Look for the 4
Put the wire on the pin that says “4”
Boot up your Pi and connect to it via SSH with Putty.
Type “wget www.icrobotics.co.uk/wiki/images/c/c3/Pifm.tar.gz” (Pay attention to capitalization)(Without the quotes)
Type “ls”, that is LS in lowercase
Type “tar -xvf Pifm.tar.gz”
You are done with the software apsect of the initialization, now onto using the software!
To play the fie “sound.wav”, type sudo ./pifm sound.wav 100.1
To play the sound on a different frequency, change the ending number, like sudo ./pifm sound.wav 102.5
To upload your own files to play, convert the files specifically to the following factorsUpload the files to the root directory of your pi and change the sound.wav to the name of your one-word file.
By the way, the FCC permits low-power transmitters like the one you made here.
